Project Background

Sierra Leone is located in the tropical region of West Africa, with high temperatures and abundant rainfall throughout the year. According to the data from the report of the World Bank Group, as of 2022, only 29.4% of the population in Sierra Leone had access to electricity. The off grid photovoltaic project led by the customers, aims to establish a 24 hour continuous and stable power supply system for the factory. However, during the implementation of this project, three major challenges were encountered:

1、High Temperature Environment: The temperature peaks from February to May every year, and the highest outdoor temperature can reach 40℃. Such high temperatures pose a severe test to the operation of photovoltaic equipment.

2、Difficult Maintenance: There is a shortage of professional technicians in the local area, which requires the equipment put into use to have the characteristics of "high durability and low maintenance requirements", to reduce the difficulty of operation and maintenance.

3、Heavy Rainfall: The average annual precipitation in Sierra Leone ranges from 2000 to 5000 millimeters, making it one of the countries with the most abundant rainfall in West Africa. Frequent and heavy rainfall adds many obstacles to the protection and normal operation of photovoltaic equipment.
